So you have all the equipment you need to record. The next piece in the daisy chain is the microphone. Perhaps microphones. We’ll come to that in a minute.
Microphones come in all shapes and sizes and types. Condenser mics are commonly used in studio environments and need phantom power to work. They are quite sensitive and pick up motes of dust when they are working properly. Dynamic mics are more commonly used in live environments. The rugged SM58 is the classic mic you find in most venues with the silver lollypop head.
