Synths and trees
Songwriter on Fire 37
A question: do you go out for a walk when you feel the need to steady yourself?
My father died almost ten years ago, and last week my mother joined him (see Songwriter on Fire 36). I am experiencing a double layer, new grief squatting on the old.
I go walking in green places when I feel the need to find balance. I head for the trees by the river here in Cambridge. There’s a magical ring of white willows out on Stourbridge Common towards Fen Ditton. They form a natural haven. I think of them sometimes as a cathedral. And I sometimes feel the need to walk among, sit among those trees.
